Towards the end of November 2022, the Audi A5 Coupe became the latest model on the automaker's roster to garner a Top Safety Pick+ award (TSP+) from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It joined a long list of 14 other Audi models to earn the Institute's highest safety assessment. Audi's total of 15 TSP+ awards was the most in the industry as of November 29, 2022, and a testament to the manufacturer's renowned commitment to automotive safety.

Earning a Top Safety Pick from the IIHS isn't an easy achievement. It requires scoring the highest possible rating of "Good" for all six crashworthiness tests, having a forward collision mitigation system rated "Advanced" or "Superior," and offering available headlights with a "Good" or "Acceptable" rating. To earn the additional "plus" (+) designation, a TSP-rated vehicle must come standard with a "Good" headlight rating.
